Change starts with us

Lane County leaders over 7+ decades have declined to make our LARs part of the County road system. It will take a lot of effort on our part to make change happen.

  • Sign our petition urging the County to take responsibility for these roads.
  • Join our mailing list to receive updates on this issue and to hear about specific opportunities to get involved.
  • Call or write directly to our Lane County Commissioner for most of River Road and Santa Clara, Ryan Ceniga, and urge him to work with his fellow commissioners to end this unfair treatment: (541) 682-4203, Ryan.Ceniga@lanecountyor.gov.
  • Write to the whole Lane County Board of Commissioners (lcbcccom@lanecountyor.gov) expressing your consternation and urging them to act. Copy Lane County Public Works (lcpwadmn@lanecountyor.gov).
  • Testify in-person or virtually at one or more Lane County Board of Commissioners meetings. (We will let our mailing list know about specific dates we’ll target, but the more dates even just one or a few people turn out to testify, the more they will pay attention.) Tuesday morning meetings are usually the ones where Public Comment is on the agenda. Calendar  Meetings page.
  • Volunteer to go door-to-door to educate homeowners and gather petition signatures – contact us.
  • Volunteer your skills to help us understand options, and to organize: legal skills, graphic design, and any others you may have that you feel would be helpful – contact us.
  • Write to the Eugene Mayor and City Council (mayorcouncilandcitymanager@eugene-or.gov) to ask for their support.
  • Talk to your neighbors: make sure they are aware of this issue, send them to this website, larsineugene.com, and ask them to get involved. If you’d like some cards with this website on them to pass out as you talk to people, send me a message and I’ll drop some off!
  • Write to us with other ideas you have for involvement.

The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any. (Alice Walker)

Please join us!

For 70+ years Lane County has gotten away with, "We feel for you LAR homeowners, but there's nothing we can do" - when they have the authority to take responsibility for these roads.

We simply cannot win this fight to make government responsible for our roads without you. Sign up to receive updates about this LARs/private roads issue, and to hear about opportunities to get involved.

We don’t spam! Read our privacy policy for more info.
